1. FY22 AC/USAR(AGR)/IMA
SSG EVALUATION BOARD, MY BOARD FILE EXTENSION. From the DA Secretariat
SGM: I want to make sure everyone is tracking a recent discussion that
I’ve had with the team here in regards to the FY22 SSG Evaluation Board
My Board File (MBF) that is about to close. We are going to extend the
MBF closing date from 15 Jan 22 to 25 Jan 22. This will allow all
eligible SSGs to view there file an extra 10 days and continue to see
updates as it refreshes. Also, I want to discuss a few things (at the
following link) that give more clarity on the MBF process and what it

2. R3 IPPS-A USER MANUAL - VERSION 1. Version 1 of the IPPS-A R3 User
Manual is now available for review and feedback. Feedback received by 31
JAN 22 will be considered for inclusion in Version 2, set to release

3. FY22 TPU/IRR MSG/1SG NCO EVALUATION BOARD ANNOUNCEMENT. From the
USARC G-1: The board will convene on 2 May 2022 and will review all
eligible MSG/1SG records in their primary MOS only for the purpose of
creating an Order of Merit List (OML) to facilitate a myriad of human
resource decisions. These management decisions include selection for
training to attend the Sergeants Major Course for the purpose of

4. 23-01 MISSION ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS (MER) TRAINING. From HRC OPMD:
Officer Personnel Management Directorate, US Army Human Resources
Command, will conduct training for Active Component (AC) Unit Strength
Managers on the AIM2 Mission Essential Requirements (MER) list on 24
& 25 January 2022 using Microsoft Teams. The purpose is to provide

5. ARMY'S RETIREMENT PLANNING NEWSLETTER, "CHANGE OF MISSION", JAN-MAR
22 EDITION. From the Director, Army Retirement Services: The newest
edition of the Army's retirement planning newsletter, "Change of
Mission," is ready for download. All Soldiers with 17+ years of service
should receive an email notice from DFAS at the email address they have
entered in myPay. Some topics covered this quarter are mandatory
retirement planning courses, the Uniformed Services Former Spouse
Protection Act, what to do with your TSP account when you retire, and

6. ARNG EDUCATION OFFICE ISSUES.
a. POST-9/11 GI BILL PROVISIONS FOR COVID-19 RESPONSE EXTENDED.
Public Law 117-46/REMOTE Act was signed on December 21, 2021. This new
law extends the provisions in the Coronavirus Response Act from December
21, 2021 to June 1, 2022. The primary provisions extended due to this

information for Soldiers who paid out of pocket for their Federal

c. MILITARY ONE SOURCE BRIEFING – 21 JAN. Did you know your spouse
is eligible for benefits through the My Career Advancement Account
Scholarship Program (MyCAA) program if you are on Title 10 orders? And
now, MyCAA is offering free CLEP & DSST exams to eligible spouses.
To learn more about the CLEP & DSST program thru MyCAA you are
invited to attend a briefing hosted by DANTES and College Board on

b. MILPER MESSAGE 22-023, ANNOUNCEMENT OF BRANCH TRANSFER PROCESS
FOR ARMY RESERVE ARMY MEDICAL DEPARTMENT (AMEDD) OFFICERS, ISSUED:
[1/13/2022 4:16:32 PM]. This message provides Army Reserve AMEDD
officers a clear and concise branch-transfer process to retain officers
via branch transfer into basic branches and to minimize the number of
AMEDD officers separated due to twice being non-selected for promotion.
This MILPER message applies to all Army Reserve AMEDD officers; however,
Medical Service (MS) officers are in an unprecedented over-strength
status. Consequently, hundreds of MS officers face separation from the
Army Reserve within the next 5 years due to an excess of over 900

message describes the specific eligibility criteria to allow Reserve
Component (RC) officers to defer promotion consideration for (Opt Out

d. MILPER MESSAGE 22-025, APPROVAL OF THE HUMANITARIAN SERVICE
MEDAL – HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF OPERATIONS, ISSUED: [1/13/2022 4:21:59
PM]. This message announces that the Joint Staff approved award of the
Humanitarian Service Medal (HSM) for personnel who directly participated
in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief support to the people of
Haiti following a devastating earthquake on 14 August 2021. The HSM has
been approved by the award authority for U.S. Service members, Coast
Guardsmen, and Reserve Components (to include the National Guard), who
were physically present in the Joint Task Force Haiti Joint Operations
(Haiti and 12 nautical miles per the national maritime boundary) and
provided direct humanitarian assistance during the period 15 August 2021
to 5 September 2021. Determination of individual eligibility is

e. MILPER MESSAGE 22-026, CHANGE IN POLICY TO AUTHORIZE THE ARMY
ASTRONAUT DEVICE TO BE AFFIXED TO THE ARMY SPACE BADGE, ISSUED:
[1/13/2022 4:23:35 PM]. This message is to announce that the Army
Astronaut Device can be affixed to the Army Space Badge. The Army
Astronaut device is awarded by the Chief of Staff, Army to personnel who
complete a minimum of one operational mission in space (50 miles above
earth) and is affixed to the appropriate Army Aviator Badge, Flight
Surgeon Badge, or Aviation Badge awarded to the astronaut. Individuals
who have not been awarded one of the badges listed above but who meet
the other astronaut criteria will be awarded the Basic Aviation Badge
with Army Astronaut device. Army officers who complete the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration's Astronaut Candidate Program are
designated as Functional Area 40C (Astronaut), and are awarded the Basic
Space Badge (if not previously awarded). Army Astronauts who are
awarded multiple badges (Space, Aviation, Flight Surgeon) may affix the
