S1NET Message Summary - 06/24/2024

1. IPPS-A UPDATE: ORDERS FRAMEWORK UPDATES, INBOUND DEERS DATA, ATTACHMENTS, NEW VALIDATOR SUBCAT, COT/IPCOT ABSENCES, ROADMAP AND RESOURCES.      a. ORDERS FRAMEWORK UPDATES. Soldiers asked and we listened. Orders generated by IPPS-A now include the official Army seal!

 

 

     b. INBOUND DEPENDENT DATA FROM DEFENSE ENROLLMENT ELIGIBILITY REPORTING SYSTEM (DEERS). We were tracking an issue in which DEERS was not able to send all required changes to dependent information to IPPS-A. DEERS recently adjusted its logic to improve capturing and sending of dependent changes to IPPS-A. Now, when such updates occur, the data captured in IPPS-A is more accurate and timelier.

 

 

     c. ATTACHMENTS IN IPPS-A. To moderate redundancies in the system, units should only attach documents that are required for IPPS-A transactions. Attaching unnecessary documents can clutter the system and extensively drain the available volume.

 

 

     d. NEW VALIDATOR SUBCATEGORY. The NG/AR Validator Subcategory was recently released to production to address the differences of National Provider level between Regular Army and National Guard/Reserve components. This Validator subcategory will contain roles that primarily reside in the Principal Validator subcategory.

 

 

     e. ROADMAP. IPPS-A has a roadmap to guide stakeholders through FY26. This outlines the major post-release aspects of IPPS-A development, and provides clarity on project goals, milestones, tasks, timelines, and dependencies. This roadmap is effectively helping to Drive the Change we need in Army modernization efforts, and I encourage you to review the IPPS-A Roadmap to gain a better idea of where we are headed.

 

 

     f. RESOURCES. HR Pros should join the Drive the Change channel on MS Teams to get the latest updates as well as New Release Training every Friday following a release. The IPPS-A Team is still conducting virtual Over the Shoulder Support (OTSS) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

 

 

2. 25-02_SLD-TD_EXECUTIVE_SUMMARY. Army Senior Leaders directed that the Colonel’s Management Office (COMO) remove Colonels from the Active-Duty Officer Assignment Interactive Module Version 2 (AIM 2) Marketplace.  With Vice Chief of Staff of the Army (VCSA) direction and oversight, COMO will implement an improved Colonel talent alignment and distribution process. https://www.milsuite.mil/book/message/1066329

4. CORRECTION TO IPPS-A USER MANUAL v11, PROCESS 15-4, UPDATE MEMBER’S CORRESPONDENCE/RESIDENT COURSES.      a. MILPER MESSAGE 24-237, JUNE 2024 - REGULAR ARMY PRECISION RETENTION, ISSUED: 21 JUNE 2024. The Secretary of the Army recently approved a significant change to the Army structure which will impact multiple Military Occupational Specialties (MOSs) over the next two fiscal years. Prior to reclassification, commanders are authorized to utilize personnel in accordance with AR 614-200. Although this will result in an MOS mismatch in reporting, it is understood during this transformation there will be an impact to unit status reporting (USR). This MILPER message announces changes to the Regular Army Selective Retention Bonus (SRB) program. MILPER MESSAGE 24-239, UPDATE TO IMPLEMENTING GUIDANCE FOR EXCEPTION TO POLICY (ETP) FOR FROCKING OF MASTER SERGEANT (MSG) TO SERGEANT MAJOR (SGM) AND FOR FROCKING OF SERGEANT FIRST CLASS (SFC) TO FIRST SERGEANT (1SG), ISSUED: [24 JUN 24]. This MILPER provides guidance on the implementation of the Exception to Policy (ETP) to AR 614-200, Chapter 7, for Frocking of Master Sergeant (MSG) to Sergeant Major (SGM), and Chapter 8, Section IV, for Frocking of Sergeant First Class (SFC) to First Sergeant (1SG) (reference B).
